The 3kg Labkem silica gel for desiccators is a bulk pack of orange indicating silica gel with 2–4mm beads, ideal for laboratories operating multiple or larger desiccators. This silica gel for desiccators shifts from orange to green as it becomes saturated, so you can see at a glance when regeneration is required.
Using the same non-toxic orange indicator system, this desiccant avoids the cobalt chloride indicators found in common blue silica gels that are classified as toxic. The 3kg pack is well suited to central stores, QC laboratories and production support areas where desiccant is consumed regularly. The 2–4mm granules pour easily into plates and cartridges whilst delivering strong moisture uptake of ≥ 9.0 % at 20 % RH, ≥ 22 % at 50 % RH and ≥ 38.0 % at 80 % RH. For reuse, the gel is regenerated at 100–120 °C for roughly one hour per kilogram, until the original orange colour is restored, whilst avoiding extended heating that could damage the indicator.
